Questions

When can I start?

Very soon. Lumo is putting the last pages in place before it opens to everyone. Until then the blog is open, with practical guides to learning a language by reading.

Which languages can I learn?

You can read in 72 languages: paste or import anything and tap any word. Lumo Stories, the short stories with every word explained, are in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.

Do I need to know some first?

No. The stories start at A1, for your first weeks. Lumo also labels everything you import by how much of it you already know, so you can see what’s just right before you start.

How is this different from a flashcard app?

You learn words where you meet them, in sentences you chose to read. Each word you save becomes a card with its sentence, timed by FSRS to come back just before you’d forget it. Lumo can also open shared flashcard decks (.apkg files).

Where are my words kept?

In your account, with a copy on your device for reading offline. You can export your words as a spreadsheet file, or everything as a backup, whenever you like.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not yet. One is being built, and your account will carry over to it.

What does Pro add, and can I cancel?

Pro lifts the free plan’s limits: every language, unlimited imports and sentence translation, every story and 5 streak freezes. It starts with 7 days free. Cancel from your account whenever you like and Pro stays on until the end of what you paid for. Looking words up and reviewing cards are unlimited on every plan.

Almost ready

Lumo is coming soon.

We're putting the last pages in place. Soon you'll be able to read and watch anything you love, tap any word, and watch it fade from yellow to known.
